PHOTOGRAPHER

Photography was my oldest hobby

Now it is my newest profession

My father was an accomplished photographer which no doubt was enhanced by his training in the graphical arts. Following his building of a darkroom in the back yard using bricks with a corrugated asbestos roof, I was keen to be shown how to make my own prints. I had already been shown how to develop my own film (120 roll film). Thus at the age of 7 I learned how to print my own photographs.

Film was very expensive relative to the availability of money in those early days, so I was limited to the film that was affordble, which may have amounted to as little as 1 roll every two months, or only when special outings or holidays occurred.
